Well, we are into a new year! Whoopee! Maybe this will be the
year I get to start doing music for a living! Wow, that would be
great.
I finally "finished" my album. My wife says it's finished. It has
11 tunes. But I am not totally happy with it. Some of the songs, "Halfway Round The World",
"Fade Your Heat", "Blacksmith's Fire", and "The Call", were recorded
over 10 years ago in Austin Texas. "Fade Your Heat" and "Halfway Round
The World" were produced by Mark Hallman at
Congress House Studios. Mark is a great
producer and a great player, but the songs are him...not me. I would prefer
to redo these. "The Call" was a solo acoustic recording that I loved, but it
somehow got erased from my master tape and Mark doesn't have a copy in the
studio, so the version that is on the CD is from a cassette. Very bad sounding.
I tried to clean it up but it needs to be redone. Expect to hear that one
again on another album. "Blacksmith's Fire" was recorded in the bedroom of my
good friend Ken Ray Wilemon. Ken Ray plays drums and sings harmony with me on
"Blacksmith's Fire". It was recorded on a Tascam 488 8-track Cassette recorder.
The "phasing" is out on the recording and it's got some high end noise. So, I would
like to re-record that one as well, but MAGIC struck while Ken Ray and I
were recording that one, so it might be hard to reproduce the magic. Oh well, I guess
I just have to put these tunes out there and call it done.
There is One More Song that I will include in this
album before it is written in stone. I don't know the name yet. Either "Court Of
Greedy Kings" or "Another Jokers Play". It's an anti-marijuana-prohibition song. I
think is very fun..and my wife and I worked together on this one as well. I am playing
at the Million Marijuana March on the State Capital lawn in May so I want this song
on the CD as well.
I love the feedback I am getting from the Internet. My MP3.com site
is getting some traffic and I love the feedback from RadioParadise.com.
I am very bummed that I was not able to attend the RP gathering in NY. Oh well, maybe
next time!
