This is the guitar you hear most on my recordings. Its like an old friend. I bought it on Ebay back in
1998 while I was living in Iowa. I was broke and needed an acoustic
guitar. I got it for $169 shipped. The person who sold it didn't know
much about it. When I got it, I was pleasantly surprised. It plays and sounds great.
Over the years I have broken the headstock off of the guitar about 6 times. I keep repairing it.
I clamp and glue it, then drill three or four holes and drive pieces of oak dowel into
the holes to pin it together.
The last time it broke, I didn't think I would be able to fix it. My brother Darrel generously bought the Simon & Patrick
acoustic for me for Christmas. With a spare guitar in hand, I was freed up to take drastic measures to repair the
alvarez. If it didn't work, I had the Simon & Patrick. I aggressively glued, drilled and sanded the guitars
head stock. It was a solid repair so I wanted to sand the headstock down to the "Mother of Pearl" Alvarez inlay. Well
it turned out that it wasn't "Mother of Pearl" but was instead a decal that I sanded off.
